The j election of officers took place, and resulted in j an almost complete re-election. A word of j praise is due to the club's secretary, who is \ retiring- from the position. PJAKO RUGBY UNION. At the annual meeting of the P?.iko Rush?' j Union, held at Waihon, the report, showed thai i three senior and three junior teams, represent- j ing To Aretha, Waihou, and Morrin*vil!e respec- i tively, had competed last season. The senior cup , was "won by Waihon, who sustained one loss, j the junior cup being: annexed by Morrinsviile, : who did not haw .1 reverse. P. Rice; treasurer, j Mr. Magill; sole selector, Mr. Glynn Lewis. The | Matamata Football Club was admit to affiliation with the union. At a meeting of delegates, held subsequently, all the affiliated clubs were represented. It was arranged that the first round should be played on May 9, when Morrinsville will play Te Arolia at. Morrinsville and Waihon meet Matamata at Waihou. Mr. Moore-Jones was appointed referee for all matches at Matamata in the first round. Mr. Lowrie to act as referee in the Morrinsville match. Messrs. Comerford and Geddis were appointed delegates to the Goldfields Union, with which the Pinko Union is in affiliation. PAEROA EAST CLUB. [BY TELEGRAPH— CORRESPONDENT.] Pabboa, Monday. Sorensen, Moore, ; Collins, Waddingham, Smith, and Hollow; sccre- | tary and treasurer, Mr. Hollow ; delegates to the Paeroa Rugby Union, Messrs. - Moore, Anderson, and Sorensen; auditors, Messrs. Anderson and Brenan; sole selector. Mr. Waddingham. The election of a captain was postponed until the first match. THE GAME AT WHANGAREI. [BY TELEGRAM!.— OWN" CORRESPONDENT.] Whangarei, Monday. A general meeting of footballers was hold on Saturday night with the object, of reviving the game in Whangarei for the coming seat-on, it. having been practically defunct for the past- two winters as" far as the town is concerned. Considerable 'discussion envied as to whether Whangarei should join the Northern Union, which was formed last year, comprising lour country districts, or whether the Whangarei Rugby Union should be the centre and absorb all the country clubs.' The feeling was mostly in favour of the latter course. It, is probable that the Whangarei Union will be resuscitated, whether the Northern Union clubs are agreeable to join or not. MATCH AT WAIKINO. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Waihi, Monday. The first football match of the season was played on the Waikino ground on. Saturday between the Waikino Suburbs Club and the Waihi City Club. The'game resulted in favour of the Waikino players by nine points to six. For the winners Skillen, I3ii?ns, and Whit taker registered a try each and Stone and Gilpin tries for City.
