Chinese changers at Hongkong are refusing Japanese banknotes, even at a discount. The Hongkong Chamber of Commerce is circularising the principal other Chambers in order to obtain diplomatic action to stop the proposal of the Japan Cotton-spinners' Association to insert lottery tickets in bales of yarn, thus fostering Japanese trade to the detriment of the Indian trade. (Received April 12, 4.20 p.m.) Pekin, April 11. The organisers' of the boycott in China declare that they will not relent until Japanese commerce suffers to the extent of 60 millions sterling.
