[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] CAMBRIDGE. A M'l-KTixo of the Feucourt Drainage Board was field on Friday, Mr. Robert Swnyne presiding. Mi. Ilaniion reported that the lower portion of lie main drain hud been completed at a cost of £7?. and a progress payment of £50 was passed In Mr. T. 11. Kelly, the contractor for the other portion of the drain. The I'ukekura Road Board met at Cambridge on Friday. Mr. Robert Fisher presiding. The chairman reported that arrangements had been nun for forming 20 chains of the Redoubt cross mid. It was decided to call for tenders for ploughing up and re-forming about balf-a-mile of the road from Mr. Reynolds' boundary to Mr. Allen's property. Sitting as the Cambridge West Domain Hoard, the board passed an account- from Mr. C. .1 arret for £62, in connection with the new swimming baths, for payment. At a committee meeting of the Cambridge Golf Club Mr. James Anderson (president) presiding, the president reported that Mr. John Arnold lcjfi consented to )the removal of the pavilion from the present, site to another part of his property, and that he bad also given permission to erect a new entrance gate. A resolution was passed thanking Mr. Arnold for his consideration of Hie club's request. It was resolved to thank Mr. F. C. llunyard for drawing the plans and specifications for the additions and improvement's to the pavilion, and Messrs. F. ,T. Taylor and E. J. Wilkinson were thanked for their offers to donate trophies. A special meeting of the committee will be called the week after next to consider the matter of handicaps, fixtures, local rules, etc. PUKF.KOITE. The Pukekohe Town Band, under Conductor Caliill. rendered a programme of music at Mr Davis' residence, in order to recognise the services of Messrs. R. A. Davis and ,T. Roulston to the band at the recent bazaar. At the close of the programme, Mr. Wilkinson, on behalf of the band, thanked Messrs. Roulstop. and Davis for the work they had done. Both gentlemen responded. after which refreshments were served bv the ladies. POKENO. Included in the work done during the summer Ijv he Road Board, wag the raising of the road at Mr. S. Graham's, which was almost impassable last winter. The highway lias been raised no iess than 4ft in some places, making a good, level road, covered with metal 9in deep. fliid a good soft road on either side. The bridgss(ear Mr. Shanks' property has been entirely removed and a new sf.ene wall built on either side to resist. the winter floods. New stringers unci top complete a much-needed renovation. ' The creameries are not running on Sunday now. and the much-wanted rains have brought up the failing supplv a little. The shortage' of grass, however, still makes cattle very cheap. At last Pokeno sale, the majority of beasts' were not sold, and a heavy supply was yarded. ~ Several very fair potato crops have come to hand, but some of the biggest crops hare turned out useless. The drought did much damage to most of the vegetable growth. At A UK U. A social was tendered to Mr. W. Cotter, who is about to leave the district, in the Patumahoe Hall, on Friday evening, there being a good attendance during the evening. Mr. Cotter was presented with an illuminated address, a gold pendant, and a silver-mounted umbrella, from the Athletic Club, of which he was a member Mr A. Barter made the presentation, which the recipient suitably acknowledged. The remainder of the evening was devoted to dancing, and during an interval refreshments were dispensed.
