MEETING OF DELEGATES

IMPORTANT DECISIONS.

Matters in connection with the "Greater Auckland*' scheme were further advanced at a meeting of the delegates of the various local bodies, which was field in committee at the City Coun.il Chambers last evening, under the presidency of the Mayor" of Auckland (Mr. A. M. Myers). All* the districts concerned were represented with the exception of the Epsom and Reniuera road boards, the chahmen of which, bodies sent apologies for unavoidable absence. The figures in regard to the loans and the rating of the different bodies (an abstract of which was published in yesterday's Herald) were laid before the meeting. A long discussion took place, and as a result of the deliberation some important principles in regard to several matters of detail were affirmed, the decisions, arrived at in each case being unanimous. It was agreed that a uniform general rate, based on the annual value, should be levied over the whole of the combined district, but that it should be left optional with Grey Lynn to continue to rate on the unimproved value, as at present, j The results of the discussion were reI warded as very satisfactory, and it. was j decided that another meeting should be held on the evening of the 24th instant.
