SWIMMING.
' ■ ~~ The hold thoir sixth and final swimming carnival on Thursday evening next in the Albert-street Baths. The entries for the various events close to-night at the Spofts Club at nine o'clock. The programme of event* is very liberal, but there is a notable omission, namely, an inter-club race. The inclusion of an event of this nature would give additional interest to the gathering, apart from the courtesy which would be - extended to other clubs. . I understand that, despite the disadvantages under which the centre sports were ' held, the financial aspects 1 are brighter than at first anticipated The Mberality of the prize money based on the expectancy of an outdoor gathering was rather a drain on the ,limited gate" at Albert-street Baths, but by careful management the centre secretary, sir. Gibbin, hopes to come out slightly on the right side.
