RACECOURSE TELEGRAMS.
[OY TELEGRAPH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION j CuiusTCJiuiuar, Thursday. Owing to the operation of the Gaining Act, tlio telegraph office at Riccarton racecourse was run at a loss during the mid-summer meeting of the Canterbury .Jockey Club. Consequently, this office will probably be discontinued in future. Its closing will necessitate the use of carrier pigeons by the Press Association and local papers, the Press Association sending the messages by pigeongram to Christehurch mid thence by wire.
