.«£ Revs. Chappell and J. Holloway left V the South yesterday by the Ra-rawa. Captain Brophy, of the Union Company, wrived from the- 'South by the Karawa yesterday. ■ Mr. W. A. Boucher, Government nomologist, left by the Rarawa yesterday, en tout* to Wellington. - Mr. J. S. Larke, the Canadian Trade Commissioner, will attend a- meeting of tho Auckland Chamber of Commerce to-morrow afternoon. The Rev. C. A. B.Watson, of Stratford, : Taranaki, who has been appointed as vicar, of St. Paul's Church, arrived in Auckland yesterdaj. He will be inducted to-morrow ! evening. The Rev. E. M. Cowie, vicar of Si. Mark's, Te Aroha, has been appointed vicar of Hamilton, vice the Rev. Norman Badclii.e, who is returning to England at the beginning of July. Mis? A. L. Cavey, assistant at the Cambridge High School and formerly of the ■Wha.nga.ixn High School, has received advice of her having passed the " 0" examination in all subjects, with special mention in arithmetic and drawing. A complimentary dinner was tendered by Messrs. Sargood, Son, arid Ewen, Limited, (o Mr. C. F. Edgar, at the Tiffin on Monday night, on the occasion of his- departure to fill an important post in their Christchurch branch. There was a large attendance. Mr. C. IT. Jones proposed the toast of " Our Guest," and referred to the high esteem in which Mr. Edgar was held in both business and private life. At St. James' Hall, Wellington-street, on Monday evening, a valedictory social was tendered to the Misses A. and M. Parry, members of St. James' Church choir, who are returning to Wales, after some years' residence in New Zealand. Mr. "Walter Impett, choirmaster, on behalf of the members, presented Miss A. Parry with a lady's dressing case, while Miss May Parrv was the recipient of a " Peggy" bag. The Rev. R. L. Walker, M.A., also'spoke. During the evening songs were rendered by Mrs. Edmondos, Misses A. Parry, Baglev, I. Russell, and Messrs. Mars, Parker, Ixfilner. Stannaway, Carter, and Crawford. The Misses Parry, with the other members of the family, leave on Friday for Lyttelton, where they intend to join the e.g. Oswestry Grange for England.
