A BUTCHERS' STRIKE.
■ [St TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Tijiabu, Thursday. This morning all the butchers at the Pareora Freezing Works struck on account of one of their number being discharged for smoking on " the board-" - There is a special place provided for smoking, but the butcher was discharged for having infringed the regulations by smoSing at this particular place. : One of the directors "of the company (Mr. R. H. Rhodes) unsuccessfully, endeavoured to settle the matter amicably. The men wore given until 3.30 this afternoon to return to work, failing which others will be got in their places.
