ACCIDENT AT WAIHI.
MINER BADLY INJURED.
[BY telegraph.—own CORRESPONDENT.]
Waitii, Friday. Last night, at the Grand Junction mine, a young man named Leonard Edwards slipped into a pass and fell a distance of 20ft, sustaining concussion of the brain, and external lacerations to the head and back. Exactly how the accident occurred is not known, but it is presumed that some quartz on which Edwards was standing moved, causing him to lose his foothold and. fall back into the pass.
The injured man was conveyed to the Wailii Hospital, and although he regained consciousness for a brief period after admission he again lapsed into unconsciousness, and his condition remained unchanged throughout to-day.
