PRIMITIVE METHODIST CONFERENCE.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —I'EESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunk di.v, Thursday. The Primitive Methodist Conference was principally engaged this morning in considering committee reports. It was stated that there were 83 Sunday-schools in the Dominion, with 603 teachers and 5442 scholars. Connected with these 4549 juveniles and 1747 adults were pledged as abstainers. The Sunday-school finances were in credit £301 Is 7d.
It was resolved to hold the conference of 1909 in ok! and. A discussion took place on. the recommendation of the Standing Committee that up to £1000 be expended on the costs connected with the exchange of the Rev. P. O. Hurst, of Glasgow, for the Rev. VV.- Lay cook, of Dunedin. It was mentioned that Mr. Laycock would leave for England at the end of 12 months. It was decided to accept the exchange without any financial responsibility. Remits from a number of districts were considered, and it was resolved, "That a Sunday-school agent be appointed in each district to report annually to the district meeting on the state £>f the schools he may have visited." The following were appointed as agents:—Auckland, Mr. Moore (senior); Paranaki, Mr. V&rnoyj Wellington, ]Mr Feltham; Canterbury, Sir. W. Dobb« - Otago and Southland, Mr. H. Guy.
