SIR J. WARD IN THE SOUTH.

CHKis-rcHUiicn, Thursdaj. Sir Joseph Ward arrived from Wellington by the Maori this morning. He received several small deputations, mostly of a private character, and, accompanied by Messrs. H. G. Ell and T. N. Davy, M.P.'s. paid a visit, of inspection to the Christ-church railway yards and cleaningsheds. He left for Dunedin by the second express, and expects to return eithci on Saturday night or Tuesday night.
