LIONEL TERRY.
ESCAPES ON PRINCIPLE.

Dunedin, Wednesday. When Lionel Terry was recaptured on the occasion of his former escape from Scacliff he told Mr. Myers, deputy-in-spector of mental hospitals, that it entirely depended on his health whether or not he gave the • authorities another chase. He would make no promises, and had, escaped as a protest against the Government's attitude towards aliens. He had considered the matter previously for a fortnight. Mr. Myers says that unless Terry will give reasonable assurance that he will abide strictly by the laws of the institution in which he is now confined he must he secured in another place. " I shall strongly advise that," said he.
