A MAORI WEDDING.

ConoMANDEL, Wednesday. A Maori wedding took place yesterday at Kennedy's Bay in the presence of a large number of Europeans and Maoris. The contracting parties- were the Rev. Hare Marsh lluarangi, and Miss Mirian Ngapo, sixth daughter of Mr. Ben. Ngapo, of the Ngatiporou tribe, East Coast. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. T. A. Vaughan, of Coromandel, who was assisted by the Rev. Taimona Hapimana, of Pirongia, Waikato. The bridesmaids were Misses K. C. and I. Ngapo and I. Davis, and', the best man Mr. D. Ngapo. The bride was beautifully dressed in cream ivory satin, and the orthodox wreath and veil, and carried a beautiful shower bouquet. The bridesmaids were all draped in pale blue satin. The "Wedding March",was played by Miss 0. Davis. The church was crowded, there being over 400 European and Maori guests. Mr. A. R. H. Swindley (chairman of the Coromandel County Council) gave an eulogistic speech, dwelling upon the friendly relationship which existed between the Maori and pakehas. The presents were numerous and handsome. During the afternoon hakas and poi dances were given, and a dance was held at night. Many of the natives returned to their homes to-day.
