"ENCOURAGING DUMMYISM."
LAND BOARD'S DELIBERATIONS. . [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DinNECIN, Wednesday. The Laud Board to-day considered four applications for transfers of leases of four small grating runs in the Silver Peak district. These runs were held by members of the Gibson family, and were worked as one> estate in conjunction with a piece of freeliold land. Transfers were sought to be made to members of the 'lumbal! family, but some opposition was shown by two members of the Board, who stated that if the;,- were granted it meant encouraging dummyism. Eventually' two of the transfers were granted, and the other two were declined.
The Board also declined an application for the transfer of a pastoral license of section 1, Block 3, in the Silver Peak district, from Robert Gibson to Wm. McGregor Turnbull.
