CHILD SCALDED TO DEATH.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Chkistchurch, Wednesday. A little buy named John Jas. Foster, two and a-half years of age, the only son of Mr. Edmund J. Foster, Hawkesburystreet, Addington, was taken to the hospital on Sunday suffering from severe scalds caused by falling into a bath of boiling water. The child died the following day, and at the inquest yesterday a verdict was returned that death was caused by theshock from scalding. From the evidence it appeared that the father had filled the- tub with boiling water preparatory to having a bath, and left the room for a few moments. On his return, just as he got to the door, he saw the child fall into the tub. He immediately took him out, and rubbed flour all over him, and had him conveyed to the hospital.
