Tenders for various road works throughout the district were dealt with as follows, tin lowest tenders being accepted :—Puriri to Noavesville, No. 1, T. H. Walters, i,224 18s; Broken Hills to Upper Landing, Given and Bell, £46; Hikutaia to Whangamata, Odium and Cater, £118; Matatoke Road, J. Maxwell, £100 6s; Turua to Netherto'n, W. Eling, £124 19s; Tapu to Curntown. R. Hawkes, £175: Tapu Creek Road, L. Newby, £26 9s; Tararu Creek Road. J. Rick'et, £57 10s: Ohio Creek Road, T. Hawkes, £52 10s; Crosbio settlement track, I. Crosbio, £52 7s: Waiotahi Creek Road. .7. Rickcfc, £47 10s; water-raw contract, splitting slabs and props, Kilgour and Coombes, props £3 15s. slabs 16s 6d ; supply of do" collars, ,1. Paul, 6d for new collars, and l£d for replating. ■ The following correspondence was dealt with:— F. H. Claxton wrote complaining of the nuisance caused by the slaughterhouse at Parawai. It was resolved to forward a report to the district health officer, with a copy of Mr. Claxton's letter, and also to the Borough Council, who have the control of the abattoirs. Messrs. Faithful and McDonnell requested the Council to form a portion of the road between Broken Hills wharf and their property, a distance of about nine chains. The engineer was instructed to visit the district and report on the necessity for the wharf and the cost of erection. A number of residents at Puriri wrote asking the Council to construct a footpath from the Puriri township to the railway station. The engineer was instructed to do the work asked for. A letter was received from the Mayor of Hamilton regarding the installation of an electrical power plant, and stating that a deputation was being arranged to interview the Prime Minister on' his forthcoming visit to the Waikato on the matter, and asking the* Council to appoint a delegate to act with the deputation. A communication was received from the Lands Department, approving of the .specifications already submitted for the expenditure of £668 6s 10c! revenue due from halves, and informing the Council that a further sum of £564 4s lOd was available. The letter asked that the scheme for the expenditure of the money he submitted for approval, such scheme to provide for loads at Waitakaruru giving access to (lie Piako lands. /
