THE CHOLERA SCOURGE.
SPREADING TO EUROPE. By Telegraph.— Association.— Aden, January 13. A severe epidemic of cholera is now raging in Arabia. Since December 13 no less than 2260 deaths have occurred in Hejaz, the province of Arabia fronting the Red Sea.
The scourge is also reported to have spread through Asia Minor to Europe, five deaths having occurred in Constantinople.
Cholera, an epidemic disease characterised by violent vomiting and purging, accompanied with spasms, great pain, and debility, originated in India, and has frequently spread itself by way of Asia into populous centres of both Europe and America.
When children fail to thrive give them Steams' Wine. It makes weak children strong by giving them better appetite and digestion. They like to take it because its taste is pleasant.
Weather permitting, special marine excursions will be run by the De-vonport Steam Ferry Company, the Kawau S.S. Co., and Messrs. Bradncy and Binns to-day.
