Stratford, Tuesday. At the Police Court this morning George William Perrott, charged with resisting the police and assaulting a woman, was fined £5 on the first charge, or in default a month's imprisonment, and £2 on the second charge. CiißisTCHtracH, Tuesday. Edgar Neat© was to-day committed for trial in the Supreme Court on a charge of having kept a "tote" shop in High-street during the November carnival. Neate elected to be tried by a jury. Bail was allowed, self in £40, and one surety of £50.
At the Acclimatisation Society's meeting at Levin there was considerable discussion on the vast amount of poaching done, and the society intends to .take strong measures to suppress it. Nets, it was stated, were being used at the mouths of rivers, and the practice would have to be put down.
