LABOURERS WAGES.
A PARSIMONIOUS GOVERNMENT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Hokitika, Wednesday. Strong disapproval was expressed at the monthly meeting of the Westland County Council held to-day at the Government's refusal to increase labourers' wages to 10s per day, the same as has been done by all local bodies on the West Coast, owing to the increased cost of living. Dining the discussion exception was taken to the Government constantly imposing harassing conditions on private employers and refusing themselves to pay the current rate of wages.
