SI. STEPHEN'S MAORI BOYS' ~„•-,••'■ SCHOOL. ..,---, - An interesting ceremony, in the form of, the unveiling of, an honours board," took place at Si. "'Stephen's' Maori Boys' College' on Tuesday afternoon. There was a large attendance, including.the Bishop of the diocese (Dr. Neiiganj," the':, members,, of the General Trust Board, and the girls oi Queen ■ Victoria Maori Girls'v College. Alter the singing ofv the"';" Old 'Hundredth " and a short, service conducted by the Bishop, the "honours board" was un veiled. On it were 'inscribed the names oi 54 past scholars, dating from 1i,61),' who have been ordained in the Churoh, or have achieved distinction in other walks,b'f,life. The Bishop, in the course of his remarks, urged the scholars present to uphold tho.manaof the school. The Rev. H. Hawkins followed, delivering a short address in Maori upon his recent trip to Melanesia, A very successful school year was practically brought to a termination on Saturday' last by an examination, conducted 1 by the Education Department's inspectors. The formal breaking-up takes place on the Sth • mst. ONEHUNOA TOWN BANE. Tho third annual meeting of the One-' lmnga Town Baud was held at the Council Chamber Inst evening, when the Mayor (Mr. John Rowe) presided. Mr. W. J. Perkins (secretary) read tho annual.report. The roll totalled 23 active members, all of whom were supplied with 'uniforms.: The outstanding debts had 'been: liquidated, and the band was making splendid progress. .'Receipts^lor the year' reached £179 Is lid, while the expenditure, including"- £87 19s. 4d' on uniforms, amounted .to £173 .7s 7d, leaving a credit balance of '' £5' 14s 4d. The ."..Mayor, in moving the adoption of- the report;; and balance-sheet, stated that, tho band had passed through' a somewhat stormy time, but the position was satisfactory at last. Not only had old debts of £20 odd'been cleared off, but a credit balance now remained. Although the Council could no' grant a donation this financial year, every- possible assistance would be given after next March. If was pleasing to-note that the liabilities only amounted to £4 18s 6d, while tho assets were valued at £1"6 2s 6d. Nine committeemen were elected as follows:To represent, the town, Messrs. V. A. F. Burnett, E. Allsvvorth, and A. Larkin; to represent the Council, Messrs. Moody. Partington, and' Skinner; and to represent the band; Me-ss. J. Beaver, jun., E. Hunt, and A. McY'idkers. The following other officers were elected: — Treasurer, Mr. H. A. Yockney; auditor, Mr. R. J. Sutherland: hon. secretary, Mr. S Fleming. Mr. It. .T. Sutherland moved: "That it be a recommendation to the committee tint the conductor' l ! services be dispensed'with, as the band does not s"em to have advanced enough of lafce." This was seconded by Mr. G. Mood), and carried.
