PAKURANGA V. ELLERSLIE. • ' • On Saturday the I'akuranga team met the Ellerslie eleven at Ellerslie. Pakuranga batted first and compiled 47 runs, Fitzpatrick (17) being 'the principal scorer. Ellerslie replied with 13, Norton (3) making the highest score. In their second innings Pakuranga scored 53 rung for the loss of seven wickets, J. Roberts (18) and P." The cricket competitions under the auspices of the Waihi Cricket Association were continued on Saturday, when the unfinished match, Suburbs v. City, was concluded. Suburbs (137) defeated City (45 and 45) by an innings and 47 runs. BOWLING. EPSOM CLUB. • 'The recently-formed Epsom Bowling and Croquet Club opened play tor the season at Epsom ,on Saturday. Every bowling club in the district sent its representative, and during the afternoon Burke's orchestra rendered a number of selections,' while tea was dispensed by the lady members of the croquet club. In opening "the green the president (Mr. E. W. Burton) ex- ' pressed his club's satisfaction at being able to return some of the hospitality they had so liberally ; received from sister clubs. Speaking of the club's prospects in the bowling field lie remarked that, although without a green last year, they had been successful in pulling off the invitation fours' at the Auckland Provincial Association's tournament, which gave bright promise for their future .efforts. The club's best thanks were due to Mr. Harrison for his counsel and professional assistance in laying out the green, while the green •superintendent (Mr. D. Craig) and caretaker also deserved their warmest acknowledgments for the high state to which they had brought the green. Mr. Burton called upon Mrs. Burton to throw the jack across the green, and afterwards to.unfurl the fine flag presented to the club by the vice-president (Mr. Jones). OTAHUHU GREEN. The opening of the Otahuhu bowling green took place on Saturday, the function being very successful, At the entranOc gates to the green an inch bearing the word " Haeremai" had been erected, and flags were flying from the pavilion flagstaff. The president of the club (Mr. James Muir) welcomed the visitors. The jack was thrown across the green by Mrs. J. Muir, who declared the green open. Mr. S. J. Harbutt presented a handsome set of challenge buckles to be competed for yearly among the members. Flay was then engaged in, the usual match, President v.
