W HANG Al' EI, Thursday. At tho mouthly meeting of the Borough Council it was resolved to furnish tho information desired by Dr. Ptirdv a 4 to tho amount of water supplied, and the number of population receiving the same. The district land registrar sent in Gazette notices of 'the proposal to bring two parcels of land under the Land Transfer Act. On the applications of William Woods and Sydney Hutching?, Messrs. Jack and Sharinan were respectively nominated to fill the positions of the' Council's representatives on the North Auckland Hospital Board, the latter being elected on the vote of the meeting. Air. Martin, counsel for, the Municipal Corporations' Association, supplied an opinion .as requested as to whether the laying clown of water mains under private streets on tho Woodhill Estate would necessitate the Coun- ! cil taking over such streets. Mr. Martin | held—(l) that the streets were private; 12) that the Council could legally lay down tho mains; (3) that the laying down of these mains would not involve taking over these streets. Offers of sites for a rubbish tip were received from .Mr. F. ,T. Pryor at £12 10s per annum, and Mr. K. Johnson, at £10 per annum.. The latter offer was accepted for a period of five years. A site for the public abattoirs was offered by the Whangftr'ei Meat Supply Company, and Messrs. H. Hawken, J. Fuller, and A. Carter, the committee appointed for purpose, recommended tho - acceptance of ( the first offer suggested, as the freehold of the site belonged to the Council, the company to be asked to act as the Council's delegates, and to erect the. abattoirs,, give prices per head for slaughtering and paddocking, and to collect a|l fees. On tho Mayor's motion, the question was deferred to next meeting, pending a definite reply from the company. • Two tenders were received for the position of librarian, that of' Miss A. M. Cooke being accepted at £30 per annum, duties to commence on January 1 next. Tenders were sent in for the formation of footpaths in Second Avenue from J. Prolougean (£335) and Geo, Mason (£282 10s), tho lower of the two being: accepted. Account* amounting to £140 2s 8d were passed for payment.
