GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.
NEW ZEALAND MEETING.

NAriEB, Tuesday. The New Zealand Golf Club's Championship Meeting was commenced on the Napier Golf Club's links to-day. The competitors included all the best players in the colony, the number of competitors being the largest that has ever taken part in a golf meeting in the colony. The weather was beautifully fine, and there was a very large attendance, the various games being watched with keen interest. The teams' match for the Williams cup, for teams of four, to be nominated before the commencement of the match, the aggregate gross score of each team in the first round of the Hawke's "Bay Amateur Championship deciding the event, was won by the Napier team, who thus retain the cup, having won it last year.
