[by telegraph.—own CCKBESrOXDiXT.} '"\ Waihi, Wednesday. ~ ' Tins morning at the Police Court, Sydney Allan Gubb was charged with having, on August 19, at Waihi, stolen 14 slabs of timber, of the value of 6s, the property of the Waihi Gold Mining Company. Accused admitted having taken the timber, but stated that ii was a usual practice, and had been permitted at other places . ,-_ where he had been. The Bench said that the practice must be stopped, and in- \ t flicted a fine of 40s ami costs, in default ; * 14 days' imprisonment. ; >
