A mean theft was committed at a ball held at Petone the other evening, the wraps -and cloaks of several ladies being stolen from the dressing-room. Subsequently a. parcel was found on some land near the local railway station, and on examination was found to contain the stolen articles —"planted," it is presumed, until a favourable opportunity arose for taking them to Wellington for disposal.
