MADAME CLARA BUTT ON HRE COLONIAL TOUR.
.Madame Clara Butt contributes to the Quiver an article which will please many readers, in which she has many things to say on "My Life as a Singer." Concerning her coming colonial tour, she writes: — We have arranged to go on a long tour this summer, and intend, if all be well, to leave England in July. My husband and I hope to give concerts at all the principal towns in Australia, commencing with Melbourne. We also contemplate a trip to Tasmania, and mean, if possible, to spend Christmas in New Zealand, after which we are to finish up by paving a second, and farewell, visit to Australia. Altogether we expect to be away from home about nine months. Ido not think it by any means a bad plan to go away for a long time, as we are doing. People and friends are all more pleased to meet again after a longabsence —at least I hope so. "We are looking forward very much to this tour, but at the same time'we cannot help worrying over the children. .For they are coming with us; neither of us could bear to leave them behind, and it is no.light t::sk. setting out for the other side of the work) with three babies, their nurses, and ever so much baggage besides! lam anxious to sec how they will stand the journey and the. knocking about. But .they are good little things, not a bit .spoilt, and quite ready to take the, rough with the smooth..so far as their tempers are; concerned." •
