j Thames, Tuesday. The usual monthly meeting of the Thames ! Hospital trustees was held last evening, . I Mr. J. M. Foy being in the chair. I Dr. John S. Purdy, district health officer, wrote in regard to consumptive shelters to the effect that, in his opinion, suitable i buildings for shelters could be erected at [ the Thames for a cost, of about £30 each. The matter of the purchase of suitable ; !ground for a site for consumptive shelters I was discussed, the two properties under offer being that of the late Mrs. Walker, at Tararu, for which the sum of £1000 ; was asked, and that of Mr. J. W. Ball, jin ' Mackay-street, adjoining the hospital I grounds. It was finally decided to pur- ! chase Mr. Kail's property, which was under offer at £950, as being the most con-veniently-situated. :.■;■'.,. The surgeon's report, gave the number ■' of patients as follows:—Number at-last return, 33 males, 10 females. Admitted since, 18 males, nine females. Deaths, two males. Discharged, 20 males, 10 females. Remaining at date, 29 males, eight females. ''■ '.' Notice of motion was tabled by Mr. M. Paul, " That the salary of the matron (Miss ;...:, Stewart) be increased by £25 per year in .'; recognition of her services." " '■'
