POLLUTION OF A RIVER.
[by telegraph.—press association.] Diwkdix, Tuesday. The Bruce County Council to-day decided to give notice to the owners of the Bruce Woollen Mills to abate the pollution of the Tokomairiro River by the discharge of factory drainage. Fifteen landowners complained that owing to its inky blackness the water could not be used for watering stock. A councillor' stated that the drainage had also killed fish in the river.
