THE HOBART POST OFFICE.

| Sir,— l have within the last two months | visited most. of the principal cities in New » Zealand after an absence of 64- years, the last- being Auckland, which to my mind, as far as beauty is concerned, is the finest, i j under that there is a probability of .your having a new post office, which certainly is much needed. The present one is not in keeping with the city, either from ail architectural point of view or internal arrangement;. 1 have seen the post offices of .Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Tasi mania, and a.-, far as I c-ait judge the Hobarfc [one bears the palm, as far as convenience to I the .public is concerned, in its internal arrangement. I think it would be worth while sending someone to have a look at | the internal part of the llobart one before | a new one is fixed upon, In the one lam j speaking of there is a. very large hall with | a counter the whole length, a great breadth !in front of it giving ample room, so that I there is no crowding. Everything that the public may require is to be had there, .and there is 110 going from one room to I another. Everything one- requires is ticketled nil, so that one does not require -to a»k I any questions. -At each end of the hall are tables with chairs, at which one can write, ana separate places for writing telegram.-:. Delivery of letters, registration, sale 01 stamps, etc., postal orders and notes, telegrams and P.O. Savings Bank are all i in the same chamber. Victohia.v. I — ,
