FOOTBALL. NEW ZEALAND TEAM FOR AUSTRALIA. C. Seeling, who intimated that he would bo unable to go to Australia with the New Zealand team, lias - now decided to make the trip. This gives Auckland a fourth representative in the team. r-lAKO UNION MATCHES. The I'iako Rugby Union cup' matches were continued on Saturday. Te Aroha beat Morrinaville at Te Aroha by 6 points to nil, tries being scored by J. and P. Hogan. Mr. Johnston?' of Hamilton, gave every satisfaction as' referee. The junior match, played at Morrinsville,"!" between Te Aroha and Morrinsville. was won by Morrinsville by 8 points to nil, tries being scored by F. Irwin and Kanaire, Nec!» converting the latter's try. : Mr. Lowry made a very impartial referee. • MATCHES AT WAIUKU. ' 1 A well-contested match between the' City and Otaua Clubs took place on Saturday. The only! score during the..first spell was a try for Otaua, obtained by Frum. In the second spell U. Bright! scored a try and T. Rees secured a goal from a penalty kick for Otaua, while S. Bright registered a try, which .'J. .Bennett converted, for City. The game ended: Otaua, 9 points; City, 5 points. The City and Otaua juniors played a'match the same day, the game resulting in a draw, neither j side scoring. • , , : • ' ATHLETICS. " | t THE DAY-McLACHLAN MATCH. -^ I On Saturday next L. C. McLachlan will en- | deavour to uphold the prestige of New Zealand in the running contest with B. R. Day, the Irish champion. In addition to the large purse and side wager, the winner will also take possession of the handsome championship sash, which is at present held by Day. Entries close to-morrow evening for the, 75yds novice handicap of 15sova and gold) medal, to be run: in conjunction with the match.
