THE RAND STRIKE.
STRIKERS CHARGED BY ' TROOPS. ' By Telegraph.— Association.—Copyright. Pretoria, May 24. Poor Dutch are gradually replacing the strikers on the Rand. Enginedrivers and other mechanics continue at work. The strike is delaying development work rather than crushing. (Received May 26,, 4.54 p.m.) Pretoria, May 25. The Rand strikers, disregarding an order forbidding the assembly of six or more within 300 yards of the mines, marched across to the Croesus mine where the police kept them off until a squadron of the Queen's Bays arrived. The crowd still refused to disperse, whereupon an immediate order was given. to charge. This surprised the strikers, who fled. '
