AN OLD MAN'S ILLNESS.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN correspondent.] • Waihi, Saturday. Constable Mclnnis arrived in Waihi late last night with the old man; John Ross, who was found lying in his whare, at Whangamata, in a deplorable condition a few days \ ago. The old man, who was admitted to the local hospital for treatment, appears to be making favourable progress towards recovery. Constable McInnis experienced a trying time in bringing Ross in from Whangamata, and deserves every credit for the manner in which he accomplished the tack. :

Mathesori, speaking on the Land Bill at; Picton recently. "If . you gentlemen think that I leave my cosy fireside, travel hundreds of miles from home, and journey across that wretched Strait for either Government or Opposition party, you make a huge mistake..'' .
