AN OCEAN MYSTERY.
'A STEAM YACHT ADRIFT.
PICKED UP BY the FIFESHIRE. A somewhat exciting incident occurred during the voyage of the .steamer Fifesliire, which arrived from Liverpool and Capetown on Friday night, the steam yacht Galinette, of Marseilles, being met with. The Fifeshire left Liverpool on April 6, bound to Capetown and Auckland. At noon on April 9, when in latitude 16.44 north, and longitude 17.35 west, the yacht was fallen in with. The yacht, which was covered in, evidently for towing purposes, was unattended, having evidently broken adrift from the vessel towing her. ' \
The yacht was. taken in tow by the Fifeshire, with the intention of taking her into Dakar. After being towed for some hours it was found that the yacht was in a sinking condition, and she had to be abandoned.
