THE second minstrel and dramatic entertainment to assist the vicarage improvement fund in connection with Holy Trinity Church took place on Wednesday night. The programme was an excellent one, being given by the church choir, augmented by a number of outside artists, and assisted by an up-to-date 'minstrel troupe. The opening overture was played by Miss • E. : Lord, after which the , chorus " Sleigh Bells" was given by the company. Songs were rendered by Misses A. Carson, M. Day. A. Itobinson, and C. Morrin. and by Messrs. L. M. Morrin, E. Bullen. F. Avers, E Fort, 1). Bennie, E. Sutherland, and G. Galloway. An exhibition of Soudanese regiment drill concluded the first portion of the programme. In, the second part Mr. J. Ferguson gave a recitation, "The Bream of Eugene Aram," and Mr. E. Fort rendered a personation song, " Uncle Joe." . A comedietta, entitled, " I've Written to Brown," was given by members of St. Matthew's Dramatic Club, the various characters being well sustained by Misses Bickerton and Halstead, and Messrs. Emmins. Matthews, Patterson, and Dempsey. The ladies of the parish provided supper for the visitors from Auckland. The accompaniments were nlaved by Mrß. Morrill. ■/■••>. The Otahnhu Band of Hope visited the Pakuranga Society on Tuesday evening.- The chair was taken bv mv. H. Andrew, who gave «v suitable address.; The programme, contributed by the Otahuhu Society, was a varied one, and was -much appreciated, -chief item being a dialogue by a number of the juvenile - members, entitled the ■" Band of Hope Meeting." ■;: - -;
