; '■- Cobomandjjl, Friday. The monthly sitting of the Warden's Court was held yesterday, before Mr. R. S. Bush, Warden. Recommended: A. J. Prescott, Scotty's Junction special quartz claim; Andrew Jamieson, Tangiaora special quartz •, claim. Granted J. A. Thomson, permission to work Irene special claim, Kuaotun i; A. M. Thomson and J. J. Craig, six months' protection for Great Mercury'special claim, Kuaotunu; C. E. Storie. six months' pro-' tection for Queen of the North special claim, Kuaotunu; Kapowai Gold Mining Company, permission to work the Kapowai : No. 2, Perseverance, and New Golden Reefs with two men -each; John Vernon, six months' protection for Otawa special claim, Kuaotunu; Tokatea Consolidated, six months' protection of New Tokatea special claim and machine site; .E. McQuoid, permission to cut 18 totara trees for Mercury Bay Wharf. Final grants: South Kapanga Gold Mining Company, Old Scotty's special" claim, Cbromandel, John Carroll, Kapai Vermont special claim, Kuaotunu, Old* Hauraki Gold Mining Company, six months' ; protection for Old Hauraki special claim and machine site. The case A. J. Prescptfc , versus Henry Gilfillan, suit for forfeiture' of Golden Pah special quartz claim, was heard. Mr. Rhodes appeared foe plaintiff, and Mr. E. Miller (of the Thames) for defendant. After evidence had been given, the Warden said ho could not do other than decree forfeiture. The ground was accordingly forfeited, with costs against defendant.
