THE WINTER SHOW.

FARMERS' CONFERENCES.

PERMANENT SHOW PROPOSED.

POTENTIALITIES OF THE

PROVINCE.

The third day's attendance at the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association's Winter Show yesterday was very satisfactory, despite the showery and unsettled state of the weather. The takings were double those 'of the previous day. The attendances in the afternoon and evening were particularly good. All sections of the exhibition proved centres of great attraction, and it would be difficult to point to! any particular department ,as engrossing a special share of attention. ; ; The dairy and farm exhibits, the district courts, and the splendid display made <> by the Department of Agriculture in their -large and well-arranged court, proved of deep interest to all more immediately concerned with the agricultural and pastoral industry. On the other hand, those to whom the fine display of butter and the various products did not appeal found enough to engross their attention in other features, including the industrial courts, and the arts and crafts section./ The lectures in connection with ', the agricultural conference were continued, and were very well attended.

Amongst the attractions were an exhibition of a mnKuig - machine at work, and a demonstration of the manipulation of the Maxim guns by artillery officers in the gunroom, off the main, shed. ;A, promenade concert, was also given last evening.

The show will be open again this morning, afternoon, and evening. • At half-past ten' a lecture on " The Promotion of Agricultural Education" will be given by Mr. Jackson, agricultural instructor to the Auckland Education Board. The milkingmachines will be on exhibition again this afternoon, and the Maxim gun demonstration will also be continued this afternoon and evening. Mr. Boucher, who has been exhibiting specimens ; of ' the ; fruit fly and the codlin moth parasite, will - continue this exhibition in the Agricultural Department's court.; There is also a weight-gues-sing competition for a valuable trophy. A promenade concert will also be given this evening. ' Arrangements have been made for all tramcars passing the Drill Hall to stop opposite the entrance .to the building, so that, in the event of the day or evening being wet,; visitors will be able to ge dryshod to the show, the -whole of which is under cover. The show closes to-night. '
