FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKETS.

Business on the local fruit and produce markets has been considerably upset owing to the holiday this week, and the usual auction sales had to be held on Thursday instead of as usual on Friday. Consequently there was a large falling off in the supplies, and the attendance at Thursday's sales was much lower than usual, with very little business being transacted. The bulk of the ordinary supplies did hot come to hand in time for them to be submitted, and special sales of perishable goods will lake place today. There was little alteration in prices compared with those of last week, the following being the ruling prices at the auction sales on Thursday:

Field Produce.—Potatoes: Local, no demand; do., Tasmanian, prime, £5 5s to £5 103 ton; seed varieties, £4 and upwards. Onions : Local, prime, 4d'6d to 5s c.vt; indifferent, unsalable. Chaff: Local, £4 10s to £5 10s ton. Dairy Produce. —Dairy and separator butter, 8d to 9£d lb; milled, in bulk, for export, 9d; pastrv, 6d to 7d. Eggs: Fresh, Is lOd dozen; do., pickled, 9d to lOd.
