The national memorial tower erected 'at..Dingwall, Scotland, in honour of the memory of General Sir Hector Macdonald was' inaugurated yesterday in the presence of i many thousands of people. - .-;..■ Sir Hector Macdonald died by his own hand in Paris on March 23, 1903, and was buried in the Dean Cemetery, Edinburgh, on March 30. He died : because the shadow of disgrace was over him, but a commission that inquired into his case found that there was \no evidence to support the charge that had % been made in Ceylon against him. . • '
