Cole and Springer, undertakers, died suddenly ia-his house of heart weakness, while a party was being held there. Invercargill, Monday. Mr. ; George W. : Nichol, a': prominent citizen, died suddenly on iSaturday after- [ noon. ; Mr. Nichol lived at Ocean Beach, and . came ,to town daily for business. ;>, On Saturday morning ho came as usual, transacted business throughout the day, and left for . Ocean Beach•' by the . ten minutes: past five train, apparently in good' health. :On alighting art; Ocean Beach he appeared •to be overcome by faintness, and was carried ; into the cook ing-houso ';; attached to the Freezing Works, where he expired a few minutes later. , Deceased was a member :of ; the firm of. Nichol '■: Brothers, Bluff • and ; Invercargill, shipping and general. :'. «w----chants, and at one time shipowners. A" "yj. their vessels was the Chance, immort :';^ d by HP. S.-Bullen in "The "Cruise of *'i© Oaohelot." Mr. Niohol was closely associated' with the development of Bluff and Invercargill. He was a lifelong member of the Chamber of Commerce, and was at one : time chairman ;of : directors of the South; land Frozen Meat Company.
