PREMIERS AT EDINBURGH.
SCOTSMEN IN THE COLONIES. By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copy London, May 12. The Premiers had an enthusiastic reception at Edinburgh on ; Friday. They breakfasted with 200 colonial university students. The Premiers were made honorary burgesses of the city. • Mr. Deakin, in his speech, referred to the valuable elements of 'Scottish blood that had contributed towards the making of tEe Australian nation. The Scots .:tof r Australia recognised that more than courtesy had prompted the conferring"of the honour of the freedom of the city upon him. - r At : the luncheon given ;by the corporation the Premiers all spoke. Dr. Jameson said he regretted the labours of the Conference ; had not been so satisfactory as the Premiers had hoped. He was confident the British people eventually would accept their view that a united Empire could only be achieved by a combination; of the views of those favouring the combination of ideals with material conditions.
