London, May 11. The by-election for Stepney,- necessitated by the retirement of Major Sir W. Evans Gordon (C.) through ill-health, resulted in the return of Mr. Leverton Harris, a Unionist Tariffite, by 2299. Mr. Ben. Coooer. the Liberal-Labour candidate, polled 1350.
