THE GREAT NORTHERN MEETING. ACCEPTANCES for the Great Northern faurdle Race and Great Northern Steeplechase, together with general entries for the minor events of the Great Northern Meeting, close on Friday next, at 9 p.m. . ■
ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES. - Owing to the heavy state of the tracks, there was no fast work at Ellerslie on Saturday morning. However, some good schooling was witnessed.\- Innißltillen, Kanaka, Mooltan, Tanglefoot, and Silica started together to do two rounds of the steeplechase course, going over the hill. Tanglefoot fell at the stone wall at the head of the straight the first time, and Silica : fell- ■at the first .. fence of the double. The three others gave a good . display of jumping. Silica and Tanglefoot were afterwards remounted, and completed the course in company, both jumping well. ; Franlflin and Hardship were companions over a round of the schooling hurdles, but they had no pace on. ■ Ben Jonson. Lady Hune, and Potiki were allotted a. similar task, the trio fencing well, and finishing in ..the order .named. ,■
