The municipal theatre at St. . Denis, . Paris, was wrecked one night a few weeks <. ago, by the audience, who were infuriated 1 at the stoppage of the performance and i the refusal of the management to return i their money. During an entr'acte. bailiffs : entered and took possession. of,the even- ' ing's takings in satisfaction of a debt. The 1 actors immediately demanded their salaries, i and as there was no money to pay them j they refused to work. When the manager 1 announced the stoppage of the play the i audience loudly demanded the return of 1 their money, and as this was impossible, 1 they smashed the seats in the house, broke i the electric lamps, and destroyed every- i thing breakable. The scenery was torn to 1 pieces, and the entire interior was com- 1 pletely wrecked before a sufficient force of i police could be summoned to restrain the J rioters. J , ..• i'
