AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD.

The., Harbour Board met in committee yesterday. Present: The Hon'. E. Mitchelsoh (chairman), Messrs. 0. J. 'Parr, ; A. Keyes, C. C. Dacre, G. W. Basley, W. K. Hutchison, J. B. Macfarlane, H. Braducy, and W. J. Napier. It was decided to issue the third issue of debentures for £100,000 at 4i per ,cent., interest ' payable in London, Australia; and New Zealand. The secretary reported that,: according to the terms of the lease of ; Admiralty House (Glenalvon) to Mrs. Scherff, if the whole or any part of the house were destroyed by fire the Board, should remit" a proportion of . the rent. The . question ' for . the Board to consider was what proportion should be remitted. The Board 'had < recovered £460 on the kitchen, which had been destroyed by fire. 'The":rent' had been raised from £320 rto £500 per annum, as from June 1 next. It was decided to remit £10 per month on the rent payable during the term that the portion of the.house destroyed by fire was unoccupied. The Board, in considering a proposal of the Gas Company in regard to exchange of property, resolved to appoint Messrs. Vaile and Sons and Ewington, to report upon the value of the land referred to. A question of the storage of yachts at Ponsonby, raised by the Victoria Cruising Club, was referred to a sub-committee for report; as was also the definition of the status of the harbourmaster and traffic manager, as set out in the by-laws. The Board, on the engineer's recommendation, resolved to, erect >a crane, on' Victoria Wharf, Devonport.. A number of other matters were partly considered, but deferred. • ,
