PARNELL BOROUGH COUNCIL.
ELECTION OF COUNCILLORS. \, A poll of-the ratepayers of the borough of Parnell took place yesterday for the election of two members to fill vacancies in the Council. The candidates nominated. were: Messrs. Chas. E. Collins, John R. Lundon, and- Wm. Johns. The hours for polling were between nine a.m. and seven p.m., the principal booth being the Borough Council Chambers, and the other O'Brien's shop, corner of Manukau Road and Henleystreet. Mr. Bonj. Gilmer was the returning officer, and was assisted by Messrs. J. Winks, P. R. Fraser/and 0. Wilkinson. Very littleinterest was taken in the election, as evidenced by the fact that out of 1194 ratepayers on the roll, only 191 recorded their votes! The following is the result of the poll:— . ;■; „ Wm. Johns / ... ... ... 118 J. R. Lundon ... ... ... 107 \C. E. Collins ... ... ... 92 There were no informal votes. Messrs. Johns and Lundon were duly declared elected, by the returning officer, in the presence of about a dozen ratepayers. r „
