The rebellion in Yemen broke out two years ago and the capital of the province, Sana, was captured by the rebel leader the Imam Yabia. ' Eiza Pasha, in command of the defoated Turks, was superseded, FieldMarshal Ahmed Feizi Pasha taking command. The Turkish army was; increased to 50,000 men, and the towns and territory lost wero recovered. The rebels retreated into the highlands of the interior, whence they have carried on a guerilla warfare. Turkish troops were sent after them last year, but being badly equipped and provisioned the soldiers suffered severely. Of some of the battalions that took part in these operations last year only a few men returned.
