When* in Wellington this week Mr. J. _*• Arnold, M.H.K., brought under the notice of the Acting-Prime Minister the position of the funds collected in Dunedin last Hospital Saturday. Two-thirds of the colla- " tion went to the Dunedin Hospital, the remainder being divided among three other institutions. , A subsidy of 24s in the £ is payable or the two-thirds, but no sub* sidy can bo claimed on the- remainder. ■ The, matter was brought before the Prime Minister (the Hon. Sir J. G. Ward) in Dunedin some months ago, and he thought » sunsidy might be allowed, though on a 1 lower scale than that given to the. hospital eontributions.
