-. London, May :6. Sir Jos2i?H Ward has nominated Dr. F. Fitchett, Solicitor-General of New Zealand, to the Anglo-French New Hebrides Committee to arrange the details of the joint Court, salaries of officials and other administrative matters. .
The Colonial Office suggested to Mr. Deakin that '• he should accept Dr. Fitchett as Australia's representative, but Mr. Deakin curtly declined, declaring that since he was not consulted originally he did not now desire to assume responsibility for a Convention which did not promise to succeed, since it was full of administrative difficulties, besides introducing a dual system..of jurisdiction. . , . ',
