On Saturday afternoon (lie Union Company's steamer Waikare left tor East Coast and Southern ports, with passengers -and i' large general cargo. The Northern Company's steamer Clansman arrived on Saturday morning from Russell, Whangaroa, and Mangonui, and leaves for the same ports again this evening. On Saturday night the Northern Company's steamer Ngapuhi arrived from Whangarei, and leaves for the same port again to-night. The Northern Company's steamer Ngatlawa leaves for Tauranga at so'clock this evening. On Saturday the auxiliary schooner Greyhound left for the North. The barque Marjorie Craig commenced discharging her cargo of coal from Newcastle at the Railway Wharf on Saturday. Yesterday the Northern Company's steamer Kanieri left for Whangarei Town Wharf. The Northern Company's steamer Apanui leaves this evening for Mercury Bay, Kuaotunu, and Port Charles. On Saturday the Northern Company's steamer Mangapapa arrived from Whakatane, and leaves for the same port again this afternoon. The schooner Gisborne is to go up on the slip to-day for general overhaul, on completion of which she Sails for Tairua to load timber for Gisborne, On Saturday the steamer Stella arrived from Wharekawa with a raft of logs, and left for the same place again last night. The steamer Cape Corso, at present in the South, proceeds to Newcastle on discharge of cargo; thence to Sydney, to load general cargo for the East. The barque Jessie Craig sailed from Kaipara on Saturday for Geelong and Melbourne, with a cargo of timber. On Saturday the three-masted scow Korora arrived, from Mangonui with it- cargo of-logs. The Northern Company's steamer Waiotahi arrived yesterday from Bay of Plenty ports, with a cargo of produce, etc. Transhipments per Darius from Calcutta, Billow from Bremen. Miowera from Vancouver, Himalaya from London and Colombo, and Australian coastal steamers arrived by the Wimmera this morning. THE WIMMERA. The Huddart-Parker steamer Wimmera, Captain F. G. Entwisle, arrived from Sydney early this morning and anchored in the "stream to "await inspection, which will be carried out, at 7 a.m. to-day. Flic steamer left Sydney at 1.15 p.m. and beared the heads at 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday last ; passed the North Cape at 9.10 a.m. yesterday and arrived as above. Particulars of the steamer's voyage appear elsewhere in this issue. The steamer leaves for Sydney again this evening. THE AUPOURI. The s.s. Wimmera. which arrived from Sydney early this morning, passed the s.s. Aupouri, bound from Hokianga to Auckland, off the North Cape at 9 a.m. yesterday. THE ARAWA. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's steamer Arawa is due to-day from west coast of England porta and proceeds South on discharge of cargo. THE STAR OF JAPAN. The Tyser liner Star of Japan has left London for Australia and New Zealand, Auckland being tho first" port of call in this colony. THE APARIMA. The local branch of the Union Steam Ship Company is in receipt of cable advices stating that the s.s. Aparima 'eft Calcutta on March 31 for Singapore, Samarang. and New Zealand. THE WANAKA. The Union Company's steamer Wanaka is due at Auckland to-night from the South and East Coast ports with 2000 tons of grain and produce, also 1000 sheep. THE KATANGA. The cargo steamer Katanga (Captain James McBride), which put into Auckland recently short of coal whilst on the voyage from Chili to Sydney, has been chartered by the Union Steam Snip Company to ■ bring a cargo of coal from Newcastle to Dunedin. The Katanga is expected to arrive at Dunedin about Friday next. THE HAUROTO. The Union Company's steamer Hauroto left Timaru for Auckland at midnight on Thursday and calls at Picton. Napier, and Gisborne e'n route. The steamer is expected to leave the latter port for Auckland today. THE SQUALL. The Union Company's steamer Squall left Gisborne for Auckland late on Saturday night with a cargo of sheep and is ?xpected to arrive this evening. THE TALUNE. Owing to the Calliope Dock being occupied by the Auckland Harbour Board's dredger the docking of the Union Company's steamer Talune has had to bo made at Lyttelton. Consequently the steamer will not arrive nt Auckland until Friday morning next. THE INDRADEVI. According to advices received at Wellington the Tyser liner Indradevi left New York for Melbourne, Sydney, and Auckland on March 26. The 6te;:mer is due at Auckland about June 1 next, THE PUKAKI. The Union Company's steamer Pukaki, Captain O. Cameron, arrived from Westport at 5 a.m. on Saturday with a cargo of coal and berthed at the Hobsom-street Wharf to discharge. The steamer left Westport on Wednesday last and met with fine weather throughout the passage. THE VICTORIA. The Huddai't steamer Victoria, Captain William Waller, arrived from Southern and East Coast ports at 10.30 a.m. yesterday and berthed at the Hobeon-street Wharf. The steamer left Dunedin on Tuesday last and called at the usual way ports, leaving Gisborne at noon on Saturday and arriving as above. Experienced north-north"-west winds, with smooth seas, to the East Cape, thence strong east-north-east wind, freshening to a moderate gale, with thick rain and heavy thunderstorm, to Cape Colville: thence fine weather to arrival. The Victoria leaves for East Coast and Southern ports to-morrow afternoon. THE COUNTESS OF RANFURLY. The Government three-masted schooner Countess of Ranfurly, Captain William Champion, arrived from the Cook Islands and Nine on Saturday evening with a cargo of Island produce. Mr. M. Huggett, the chief officer, reports: The Countess of Ranfurly 'eft Auckland on January 31 and arrived at Rarotonga on February 16 after a moderate passage. Owing to a heavy sea coming in on the 17th the vessel had to put to sea for a couple of days, when she returned. Left for the Cook Group on the 27th and returned to Rarotonga on March 8, leaving again on the 10th, and called at Manaui, Aitutaki, and Palmereton Island. Left the latter island on the 18th and reached Nine on the 25th. Took in cargo and left for Auckland on the 26th. Sighted the Poor Knights at 1 a.m. on Saturday and made port as above. The weather throughout the trip was very unsettled, and at times of a threatening nature, with occasional heavy thunderstorms and swell from the north-east and south, the barometer averaging 30 degrees. THE MAORI. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's steamer Maori arrived from London direction Saturday morning after a voyage of 53i days. Having explosives on board the steamer anchored at the powder ground, and after the usual inspection was granted pratique. Captain G. Nicole is still in command, the other deck officers being: Chief, Mr. E. P. Cameron; second, Mr. 11. J. Roberts; third, Mr C. M. Andrews; fourth, Mr. C. St. L. Nott. The engine department is under the control of Mr. S. N. Brewer, who lias with him Messrs. S. K. Pease. M S. Marwood. R. B. Crawford, and J. Nicholls, Messrs. 11. E. Hutchinson and W. L. Harvey being the refrigerating engineers. Of the voyage the second officer reports: The Maori left London on February 10 at noon and proceeded to llolehaven. where explosives were taken on board, and the voyage resumed the same date. Down the Channel and right across the Hay of Biscay strong south-west winds prevailed. Teueriffe was passed on the 18th and Cape de Verde on the 21st. The equator was crossed on the 25th and exceptionally strong south-east trades were experienced, which delayed the steamer's progress considerably. The Cape of Good Hope was rounded on .March 8. and '.'rossinK the Southern Ocean dry, cold weather prevailed. Tasman Island was passed on the 315t.., thence moderate head winds and seas, with fine clear weather, was experienced to Cape Maria Van piemen, which was passed at 1.45 p.m. on Friday, the harbour being made as above. The Maori will berth at the Queen-street Wharf to-day to discharge her cargo of general merchandise.
