OTAGO HARBOUR BOARD'S STAFF.

DrsEJJiN'. Thursday. At to-day's meeting of the Otago Harbour Board a report was presented dealing with the Board's staff. The principal clauses of the report were that no officer over the age of 70 should hold a responsible position, and that no tradesman or labourer over 65 should be employed, unless under special circumstances. Mr. Win. Minims was granted 12 months' leave of absence on full pay, and retired. Captain McCallum, harbourmaster, was granted two years' leave of absence on lull pay, from September 30 next, and retired. Captain McDonald, pilot, was granted 12 months' leave of absence on full pay, and retired. Captain Goldie, temporarily filling the position of deputy-harbourmaster at Port Chalmers, was also retired.
